The story behind the emblem
The Triomphe emblem, two interlocking Cs, dates back to the early 1970s and is said to have been inspired by the chain surrounding the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
When Hedi Slimane took over Celine in 2018, he brought it back to the centre of the house: on bags, on belts and, most successfully, on eyewear. Celine sunglasses are made in Italy.

The two models to know
CL40194U, Triomphe 01 is the acetate original: a slim, slightly elongated oval with the Triomphe motif at the hinge. CL40235U translates the same idea into fine metal: lighter, more delicate and noticeably more seventies.

Acetate or metal?
Choose acetate, the CL40194U, if you want the iconic look, more presence on the face, and a frame that works with everything from denim to evening wear.
Choose metal, the CL40235U, if you prefer something lighter and more discreet, or already own a black acetate pair and want a contrast.
Match your skin: gold and havana flatter warm skin tones; silver and black suit cooler ones. Black acetate works on everyone.

How to read the code
Inside the left temple you will find a code such as CL40194U 01A, followed by the size.

| 01A / 30N / 16A | Colour code: frame and lens colour together. |

Size & fit
Triomphe ovals are narrower and shallower than most sunglasses, which is a large part of their appeal. They suit small to medium faces naturally, and on wider faces they read as a deliberate, fashion-forward choice.

They are designed in Celine’s women’s collection, but the black acetate CL40194U is worn widely by men too. It is a matter of proportion, not gender.
Can I put prescription lenses in Triomphe sunglasses?
