Tom Ford’s clip-on frames solve the oldest problem in eyewear. You need your prescription indoors, and you want sunglasses the moment you step outside. The answer is one acetate frame with a sun lens that snaps on by magnet.

How the magnetic clip works
Small magnets are set into the front of the optical frame, with matching magnets in the sun clip. Bring the clip close and it seats itself in exactly the right place: no hooks, no hinges, no scratches.
Each clip is cut for its own frame, so it follows the outline precisely and looks like a single pair of sunglasses, not an accessory. The frames come fitted with blue light filter lenses, which most people replace with their own prescription. The clip fits exactly as before.

How to read the model code
A code like FT5970-B 052 50-21-145 looks technical, but every part tells you something useful. You will find it printed inside the temple of any genuine pair.

Choose by face shape
The rule is contrast: pick a frame shape that differs from your face.
Round or oval face: squares add structure. Start with the FT5970-B or FT5916-B.
Square or angular face: a round frame softens strong lines. Try the FT5823 Eco.
Wider face: look at 55 mm and above, the FT6052-B or FT6153-B.

Adding your prescription
Every clip-on frame we sell can be fitted with prescription lenses, made in Montreal and usually ready in one to two business days.
Single vision lenses can be ordered online with your prescription. For progressives, we fit in person at our Montreal studio, because accurate measurements matter most with multifocal lenses. Either way, the magnetic clip fits exactly as before.

How to know it is authentic
Every pair we sell is checked against these points before it ships, and is 100% authentic or your money back.
The codes. Model, colour code and size are printed cleanly inside the temple and match the box.
The T. The metal T is solid, cleanly finished and perfectly aligned on both sides.
The clip. It seats firmly and squarely on its own, with no gaps at the edges.
Will the clip fall off?
Not in normal wear. The magnets hold it firmly for walking, driving and everyday use, and it comes off with a gentle pull when you want it to.
Can I use the clip on a different Tom Ford model?
No. Each clip is shaped and magnetised for its own frame, so it only fits the model it came with.
Do I have to keep the blue light lenses?
No. They are a good option if you do not need a prescription and spend long hours on screens. If you do, we replace them with your own lenses.
